Revelations 4: 6-8

The Throne in Heaven

After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven.  And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here and I will show you what must take place after this."

- Revelations 4:1

In the center around the throne were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes in front and in back.  The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.  Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings.  Day and Night they never stop saying:

"Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,
who was  and is, and is to come."

Revelations 4: 6-8

I am the first living creature; like a lion, the "King of beasts." I represent majesty and pride.

I am the second living creature; like an ox.  I am an animal frequently used for laborious work and sacrifice.  I am representative of Christ's crucifixion to save people from their sins.  I represent the "Peace offering."

I am the third living creature.  I represent Christ as a man who walked the earth.

I am the fourth living creature, "Like an Eagle."  I represent sovereignty and supremacy.  I represent Christ in all his divinity.

Statement:  The last book in the Bible, Revelations, can be intimidating, intriguing and confusing.  The information from the Bible is hard to grasp because it offers knowledge about things we have never seen or encountered before.  The visional writing of Revelations written by a man named John writes about his experience of events between Heaven and Earth, good and evil and encounters with God.
